WHAT IS TAA COMPLIANCE?

Often in the government buying space there is a need to purchase TAA Compliant products, this stands for the the Trade Agreement Act that was created in 1979 and is to enable growth and maintenance of a fair and open trading system for products like face masks. TAA Compliance requires the USA Government, including GSA, to aquire only USA made or certain designated country products. This means as a manufacture you must products product and components from local sources or from countries that are agreed to as a TAA compliant country.

In the situation were a product is assembled with different components from several different countries the guideline applies to the last country that the product is in before imported to the United States. At least 50% of the production must be completed by a TAA compliant country. The full list of TAA compliant countries can change from time to time. At this time, the non-TAA compliant countries included India, Iran, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, and Sri Lanka. Countries that are designated included World Trade Organization countries, Free Trade Agreement countries, Least Developed Countries, and Caribbean countries.
